A panel of judges has selected the third monthly winner in a photography competition aimed at showcasing the beauty of the Maasai Mara.
Congratulations to Italian photographer Torsten Brehm who beat off other photographers to win with his incredible shot of a Martial Eagle feeding on a White Stork. “It was perfect that the eagle was sitting on this small hill, so I could get a perfect perspective. To pull the stork in a better position, he had to open his wings.” said Brehm, describing the moment.
A few months ago, The Angama Foundation in partnership with Nomad Magazine launched a competition seeking to find the Greatest Maasai Mara Photographer Of The Year, with each monthly winner going forward to a Grand Final with a $10,000 prize and five-night safari for two at the Angama Mara.
Brehm’s guide, Geoffrey Njoroge, from Angama Mara becomes the third finalist to stand a chance of winning a new Suzuki Maruti Gypsy. “Contrary to what most people believe the apex predators of the Mara are not just cats! This unusual and well composed action photograph captures the power, energy and mood of a truly exceptional wildlife encounter.” said Adam Bannister, one of the competition’s judges.
